Alessio Cupelli is the photographer for the Sirmione Photo Residency 2026

25 Jun 2026

Alessio Cupelli will take part in the Sirmione Photo Residency 2026, a project organized by the Sirmione Photography Award that each year invites an artist to portray the local area through an original and personal perspective.

His proposal was selected by the jury from among 142 projects submitted from 34 countries, confirming the initiative’s growing international prominence.

A Rome-based photographer and visual storyteller, Cupelli has for years been developing a body of work focused on human relationships, borderlands, and social transformations. During the residency, scheduled for October, he will create a new body of work dedicated to Sirmione, exploring the connection between landscape, community, and identity through an approach rooted in listening and observation.

The selected project, “As if I Belonged”, impressed the jury with its ability to portray reality with sensitivity and authenticity—qualities that will also characterize the photographic journey the artist will undertake in the Lake Garda region.
